Palia: Return of the summer Maji Market

Last year during the very first Maji Market I was new to the game, and many of the items sold there were cost prohibitive. I also hadn’t learned much of the game lore and had no idea why on earth I would want to spend so much on an Embra plushie or so very much more on a Maji plushie.

I ended up opting instead to only make purchases with the tickets I won in the Chapaa Chase mini-game. But with tomorrow’s game update the summer Maji Market will be returning, and this year I’m hoping all the things I passed up will return and that I’ll be able to purchase at very least one of each of the items that appeal to me as well as some new additions.

I don’t know whether they’ll have new additions or even whether the stuff from last year’s summer Maji Market will all be available. But for those who may be wanting to think about a plan of attack for making purchases I’ve compiled this list based upon last year’s summer Maji Market. Please note I’m only including the non-food items that were available for purchase.

Here is a list of what was available last year at the Chapaa Hut.
Maji Market: Summer 2023

ProductPrice
 Chapaa Pop 1,000 Gold
Chapaa Hut Chapaa Mug 560 Gold
Chapaa Hut Bahari Board 5,160 Gold

Chapaa Hut Embra Plush 19,000 Gold
 Makeshift Garden Chapaa 2,360 Gold
Makeshift Chapaa Hide Rug 1,240 Gold

It’s worth noting hat the Makeshift items in this list are available through other means and may not be a good way to spend your in game gold during this event. And although there was a mini Maji plushie available during the event last year it was purchased with tickets earned during the mini game Chapaa Chase, but the one listed here is for the full size version. (Not the giant version available in The Underground via a lucky spin of the wheel.)

Last year’s Chapaa Chase prizes were as below.

Palia: My in home chapel

I finally converted a courtyard into my in home chapel! It’s nowhere near as elaborate as the plot tour video I did showing Elly While Bell’s (IGN) “Lost Temple” (and it wasn’t meant to be). But I’m very pleased with the result!

At the beginning and end of the video you can see my attempt at a makeshift spire (top left), and I also did a quick tour of the converted courtyard.

I also took a moment to show the view out the bay window in my kitchen. I just love that view! (Kilima Heights landscape)

Confirmed: The Elderwood is Coming To Palia!

It’s hard to get excited for something that won’t be happening for months, but it does seem the main story will finally be moving forward!

From the article: “Elderwood…will challenge player’s conceptions of Flow, the Majiri, and the role humans play in the whimsical world of Palia. Elderwood will introduce new mainline quests, gameplay elements, and many hours of adventure for you and your friends to enjoy!”

Palia: The Power of the Mushroom

Mushrooms are a wonderful thing to have on hand in the game Palia. They can be eaten (preferably prepared with heat in some way, as they give a bigger boost) or given as gifts to villagers. They are readily available, especially in Bahari Bay, as we are out and about collecting supplies for whatever project we are currently working on.

Although it’s always nice to ask a villager what they want that week prior to gifting them, it is not necessary if you are familiar with what a villager likes. And there are a few villagers who like mushrooms! So, they’re always a good thing to have on hand. Cook some and keep some uncooked ones in your inventory for gifting, and you can’t go wrong!

New Palia Quest Ancient Grudge, New Mutiny Scroll Locations

From what I understand there is a new quest that was added during the latest update at the time of this writing. It’s called Ancient Grudge, New Mutiny. From what little I’ve found online the scrolls required to complete the quest are not the easiest to find. Choosing to follow this link will reveal the locations and photos of the scrolls as well as how to trigger the quest. Happy hunting!

Get a Free Glider in Palia Right Away!

When beginning the game a great way to earn gold at the outset is simply to mine. Not only will this get your mining skill up more quickly, but it will also drop what the game calls Star Stones. So far I have not found a use for them but expect that to change in the future. For now they can be sold for in game gold and can be quite profitable when first starting the game.

That being said, my best advice to any beginner is to get your glider as soon as possible. Gliders are the primary means of transportation next to walking and running. And there are places in the game that are inaccessible to those who don’t have a glider.

Accumulating the resources for a glider at the beginning of the game can be quite time consuming as we need to mine for star stones so we can purchase 2 pieces of fabric worth 190 gold each and 5 pieces of leather at 60 gold each. We also have to take some extra time to increase our foraging skill so we are able to purchase the recipe for a basic sawmill so we can then make one from the resources we scrounge for it so we can then make the sapwood planks required for the glider. Or…we can get all this stuff for free!

In the landscape of Palia there are treasure chests to be found from place to place. The ones I’ve listed below not only are accessible without a glider, but they also contain everything you will need to have Najuma build your glider for you! Once you have obtained these treasure chests you will also still need to purchase two additional pieces of leather. This can be done at the cash register at Tish’s furniture shop. And because each of these treasure chests also contain some gold you will have enough to cover the cost of those two pieces of leather!

There are a lot of other treasure chests still to be found, and you get a reward for finding 12 of them in Kilima Valley and another reward for finding 30 of them in Bahari Bay. And collecting them all at the beginning of the game (some require the glider to get to) you will find yourself well stocked with some supplies you will find yourself needing as you play the game.

One last note about getting your glider: Before you begin collecting the necessary treasure chests be sure to take the strange item you find on your plot to Jina. The sooner you do that the sooner the quest to get your glider begins!
